Some seasons of life ask more of us than we realize. Maybe you're grieving, growing, or somewhere in between. Root. Reflect. Renew. is a space built for exactly that, grounding in who you are, reflecting on what matters, and renewing your sense of direction.

Now accepting new clients. Virtual sessions available throughout California.

Meet Allie

Welcome! I’m Allie Michie (she/her/hers), an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #159347). I offer virtual therapy to clients throughout California, and see clients in person at The Center for Psychotherapy and Integrative Health in Santa Barbara, CA.

I love this work, especially with couples, individuals, and teens who are in the thick of change. Maybe that's a career that's stopped fitting, a relationship that's shifting shape, or just not recognizing the life you're currently living. Anxiety and grief tend to show up right alongside all of it.

Grief is a central focus of my work. I support people facing all kinds of loss, not only the loss of a loved one, but also changes in relationships, identity, health, and life circumstances. Healing begins when we make space for both the pain of loss and the possibility of new growth, honoring the complex feelings that come with it.

That growth often comes with questions I don't take lightly, questions about identity, values, and who you want to become instead of who you've been told to be. There's often a quiet discomfort in that too, as what you want evolves and sometimes conflicts with the life you always pictured for yourself. I also work with people figuring out where they're headed, whether that's a career move, a relationship decision, or simply what their next chapter looks like. There's no single right way through any of it, and you don't have to have the answers before you start.

My Approach

I bring a warm, curious, and collaborative energy to therapy, a space where you can feel truly seen as you explore what healing means for you.

My work is rooted in Attachment Theory and draws from Emotionally Focused, Person-Centered, and Family Systems therapies, informed by somatic and mindfulness-based practices. In practice, this means we explore patterns, emotions, and relationships, not just symptoms. We work at a pace that feels right for you, with real curiosity and without judgment.

I believe healing happens through genuine connection and that everyone is capable of growth when met with kindness and understanding. I hold a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from California Lutheran University, and I’m committed to compassionate, evidence-based care.

Therapy Services

Virtual & In-Person

Whether you're managing anxiety, burn-out, identifying evolving values and sense of self, sorting through a relationship that's changing, or trying to make sense of a part of your story that still feels raw, I offer a confidential, compassionate space to work through it. I go at your pace, with your sense of safety always in mind. Together we'll build self-awareness and focus on moving toward the life you want.

Individual

High school, friendships, relationships, family, and trying to figure out who you are or how you feel while everything keeps changing. It’s a lot. I work with teens navigating anxiety, grief, stress, and the pressure that comes with growing up. This is a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out. I show up with honesty, zero judgment, and genuine curiosity about who you are and where you want to go.

Teens (13+)

Relationships ask a lot of us, especially during seasons of change, disconnection, or conflict. I work with couples who want to rebuild connection and communication, and I also work with couples who are choosing to separate and want to do that as honestly and respectfully as possible. This includes relationship changes, career pressures, and the everyday work of growing alongside another person. Every couple's path looks different, and I welcome partners of all backgrounds and relationship structures.
